Animation

This hand-drawn animation, created in Procreate, brings the charm of 1950s black-and-white films to life. Styled with grainy textures and using classic cinematography, the animation follows a narrative intertwined with music, where the lyrics appear on screen to guide the story. Every frame moves in sync with the song, creating a cinematic experience that blends nostalgia, storytelling, and visual rhythm.

This animation blends a hand-drawn character with real-world footage, creating a surreal commentary on routine and repetition. It begins with a gunshot, signalling the start of a race, a man starts running in an endless loop. After the first cycle, everyday life scenes from various films emerge, symbolizing how we often find ourselves trapped in the same routines. The seamless blend of animation and cinematic moments reflects the cyclical nature of life, questioning whether we are running toward something—or just running in circles.

A tribute to my dad and his passion for skateboarding. Over time, life pulled him away from skating, but this animation brings it back—capturing him mid-kickflip. Layered with old footage and familiar sounds, it’s a reflection of nostalgia, shared memories, and the lasting impact of a passion that never truly fades.
